Craft a Profession

Apprenticeships are often overlooked as a rewarding, worthwhile career and life pursuit. Apprenticeship programs are growing beyond the traditional manufacturing and construction industries and can now be pursued in health care, energy, and information technology and transportation industries.  Lasting anywhere from one to six years (depends on the industry), those enrolled in an apprenticeship program immediately earn wages. "The average wage for a fully proficient worker who completed an apprenticeship translates to approximately $50,000 annually. Apprentices who complete their program earn approximately $300,000 more over their career than non-apprenticeship participants." (Mathematica Apprenticeship Earnings Study 2012) Once the apprenticeship is complete, the "apprentice" has both an education, and actual practical on-the-job skills and experience. Nationally certified apprenticeship programs allow those completing them more career advancement opportunities and location choice.

Advantages of Registered Apprenticeship

  • The apprentice from day one will earn a paycheck guaranteed to increase over time as you learn new skills.

  • The apprentice will receive hands-on career training in programs such as health care, construction, information technology, and geospatial careers.

  • The apprentice will have the potential to earn college credit, associate or bachelor's degree, in many cases paid for by your employer.

  • Once you complete your apprenticeship, you will be on your way to a successful long-term career with a competitive salary, and little or no educational debt.

  • When you graduate from a career training program, you'll be certified and can take your certification anywhere in the U.S.

  • Many of the nation's most recognizable companies have Registered Apprenticeship programs.
