Arizona Center for Youth Resources (ACYR)

For over 40 years, we have been providing Phoenix youth with the resources they need to become successful adults who are both educated and employed.

Services Offered

  • Alternative Charter High School

    City View HS, our charter high school, focuses on student success through smaller classes, innovative instruction, and individualized attention and includes an online program City View Now for Dropout recovery. Assessments tied to needed skills in the field (Accuplace, TABE, etc.)

  • HSE (GED) and ESL

    Adult Basic Education promotes continuous learning opportunities through basic skills development, English Language Learning, and preparation for the GED or high school equivalency test.

  • Coaching and Advisement

    Skill Building and Personal Success services connect youth with necessary resources to assist them with developing essential skills and resiliency to help them remain in their education programs and/or to gain employment. Youths are matched with an advisor that will support them in meeting the goals they set. Youth also have access to individual support sessions and peer support groups with a social worker. SNAP CAN supports available to provide additional assistance.

  • City View Now - Dropout and credit recovery online high school (Virtual)

    Adult Basic Education (HSE and ESL) is offered as a hybrid, so students can be in class when available or work remotely online with the same teacher at the same time.

Eligibility

  • Adult Ed services - legal status in US (with appropriate documentation), dropped out/not in high school or identified as a Non graduate

  • City View High School - Resident of AZ, a transcript from the previous school, identified as a nongraduate

  • City View Now - Resident of AZ, a transcript from the previous school, identified as a nongraduate, dropout status for a minimum of 30 days

  • SNAP CAN - Proof of SNAP eligible status. Cannot be receiving TANF.

Required Documents

  • CVHS/CVN - Transcripts, Withdrawal Form (if CVN out of school 30 days+), Birth Certificate, Immunization Records, Proof of Residency (utility bill, ID, etc. - if they are homeless they do not need to provide under the McKinley Vento Act)

  • Adult Ed - Photo ID (just needs to have full name, DOB, and photo - can even be foreign ID) and be able to say on eligibility paperwork they are a US Citizen, Legal Resident, or lawful present for another reason.

Cost of Services

  • No cost

Times and Days Program is Offered

  • Adult Education - weekly, usually in multiple locations, Mornings, Afternoons, and evening classes available.

  • City View High School - 7:30AM - 3:45PM Monday-Thursday and make-up time available on Fridays.

  • City View Now - Can participate in classes any time.

  • Success Coaches available between 8-5 Monday-Friday.

    • Yes

  • What will your organization need and ask from a youth in order to receive transportation assistance?

    • Access to Transportation occurs differently depending on the service:

      City View High School - In-person students can receive a monthly bus pass on the day it is requested.

      City View Now - As needed and can be same day if approved.

      Adult Basic Education - Only if SNAP CAN participants can receive same-day requested
