Services Offered

  • Occupational Skills Training (OST) Certificate and Degree training assistance.

  • Work Experience (WEX) - Teaches youth job/work-related skills. Also pays those clients for their work within an externship/internship.

  • Leadership Development - teaches youth leadership skills.

  • Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling - Assist youth goal guidance and mental health therapy.

  • Adult Mentoring - Mentors youth to teach them social and living skills.

  • GED (Assist. w/ Ed. Testing) - Assists youth with helping them earn their GED

  • Entrepreneurial Skills Training - Teaches youth how to start a business

  • Transportation - Provides gas cards, bus passes, and Uber/Lyft rides.

  • Training and Work Related Expenses - Purchases books, clothing, laptops, tools, and supplies for the client's approved OST program and/or employment.

  • Financial Literacy - teaches youth the basics of the financial world.

  • Labor Market Information (LMI) - Helps youth choose a career field by assessing their skill set and interests. Also covers the demand factor and pay of each occupation.

Covid Specific Services

  • We keep clients in our OPAC (skills assessment) sessions, socially distanced. Our vendors also offer virtual GED and Tutoring assistance.

Eligibility

  • All In School Youth (ISY) must be low-income and meet a second barrier of being an English language learner (ELL), needs additional assistance, or basic skills deficient.

    All Out of School Youth (OSY) must meet a single qualifier such as having a disability, parenting/pregnant, homelessness, foster child, high school dropout, or justice involvement. If low-income, a OSY youth would have to be a ELL, need additional assistance, or be basic skills deficient.

Required Documents

  • Clients are required to have

    • A Valid State or Federal ID

    • Birth Certificate (for all family members

    • Social Security Card

    • Selective Service Verification

    • High School Diploma or Withdrawal Letter

    • Documentation of Barrier

The valid ID, and SSA card, and Selective Service verification, and proof of barrier(s) may not be self-attested as not having those items.

  • Does your organization provide funding for required documentation?

    • We do not provide these services unless it is required for an Occupational Skills Training course or employment purposes. A client may self attest to not having a birth certificate at the enrollment, but they must have a valid ID as a requirement to be admitted into the program.

  • Do they need to be found eligible for your program before you can provide funding for documentation?

    • Yes

  • What will your organization need and ask from a youth in order to receive funding for erquired documentation?

    • They would have to provide proof that their new employer or training provider requires any one of these items.

Languages Institution has Translators for

  • English and Spanish translators on the Youth Team

  • Will accommodate all clients with a translator upon request

  • Bus Passes, Gas Cards, Uber and Lyft Gift Cards

    • Yes

  • What will your organization need and ask from a youth in order to receive transportation assistance?

    • They would have to meet eligibility barriers and undergo an OPAC assessment and enrollment appointment. Once the enrollment is approved, we can begin providing services.
