Jewish Family and Children’s Service is a non-profit, non-sectarian 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to strengthening the community through quality behavioral health social services, and primary medical care to children, families and adults.

Services Offered

  • Our youth workforce program is a small department within the large agency of JFCS. We provide education services, (GED/online HS ) and employment/work readiness training for out of school youth ages 16-24 and in school youth ages 14-21.

Services Offered Virtually

  • GED, intake, academic testing, some living skills and some work readiness training.

Eligibility

  • Client must be 16-24 yo out of school, Low income, foster care, need additional help with education or employment.

Required Documents

  • Birth certificate, ID or DL, SS card, withdrawal letter or a school transcript.

  • Does your organization provide funding for required documentation?

    • Once WIOA enrolled, if these documents are lost, we can provided funding to get duplicates of State ID or Birth Certificate.

  • Do they need to be found eligible for your program before you can provide funding for documentation?

    • Yes

  • What will your organization need and ask from a youth in order to receive funding for erquired documentation?

    • They need to be WIOA enrolled which means they will need copies of required documents ahead of time such as Birth Cert, ID and SS card as well as a withdrawal letter or school transcript. If these items are lost once enrolled, we can fund to help get additional copies.

  • No fee if determined eligible for WIOA.

 Times and Days Program is Offered

  • Monday-Friday: 8AM-5PM ; evening hours and weekend hours as needed.

 Languages Institution has translators for

  • We use a translator system if there is a language besides Spanish.

Transportation Resources Available

  • Bus Passes, Gas Cards, Uber and/or Lyft Gift Cards

  • Do you need to be found eligible for the program?

    • Yes

  • What will your organization need and ask from a youth in order to receive transportation assistance?

    • From the first call, an intake will be arranged and youth told what documents they need to have. If they don't have them, the process will take longer. Intake involves a lot of academic testing that can take 4-5 hours in total. If the youth has their documents, intake and their testing done, then they can be enrolled into the WIOA program. It is at this time, the client is eligible for Transportation. However, if the service they want the transportation for is not followed through consistently, the transportation service will be discontinued.
