Y Achievers targets youth from across the Valley, who are in need of support to achieve their goals. At the Y, we recognize that every individual’s needs are different. While many may seek intensive assistance with enrolling in high school or alternative education, others may seek leadership development, or internship opportunities.

Services Offered

  • Mentoring

    • Youth is paired with a case manager and meets 2x/month GED Preparation - Monday-Thursday 8-2:30 @ Maryvale YMCA and Friday via Skype Career Exploration - $3k Grant available for tuition on approved programs

  • WEX Internships

    • 200 hours paid internships

  • Supportive Services

    • Transportation, Educational Material, Employment Tools/Material, Utilities, Car repair, Emergency housing, Medical/health services, Incentives (case by case, as needed).

  • Workshops

    • Career, Education, Financial Literacy, Work Readiness, Health/Wellness Foster Program - Non-WIOA assistance for current or aged out foster youth

  • Volunteer Opportunities

    • St. Mary's Food Bank, Stardust Building Supplies, YMCA events. Networking Opportunities - College, Work, and other program participants. Resume Building

  • Work 1:1 with case manager

  • Mentoring, GED Preparation, Career Exploration, and Workshops

Covid Specific Services

  • COVID testing in collaboration with Embry Health.

Services Offered Virtually

  • Workshops (Resume, interview, etc.)

  • Community Action Team meetings

Eligibility

  • Must meet at least one the following criteria

    • Homeless

    • Pregnant or parenting

    • Disability

    • Low Income

    • Live in high poverty zip

Required Documents

  • Birth Certificate

  • ID

  • Social

  • Proof of pregnant or parenting (if necessary)

  • Proof of low income (paystub) (if necessary)

  • Proof of disability (if necessary)

  • Proof of in school status (if necessary)

  • Withdrawal form (if below 18 and dropped out) (if necessary)

 Transportation Resources Available:

  • Bus Passes, Gas Cards, Uber and/or Lyft Gift Cards

  • Do they need to be found eligible for your program?

    • Yes

  • What will your organization need and ask from a youth in order to receive transportation assistance?

    • Youth enrolled in the Y-Achievers program may receive gas cards based on need. Youth make the request to their Case Managers and receive the service within the week.
