Diverse Ability Incorporated promotes access, equality, inclusion, and the celebration of diversity, through peer-based experiential learning, innovative person-centered practices, and maximized collaboration efforts, designed to heighten knowledge, enhance skills, and foster individual life path planning, and growth.

Services Offered

  • Generally, Diverse Ability Incorporated provides a variety of peer-based, person-centered, training, navigation, and support services.

  • Specific programming outlined below and on website:

    • ARIZONA YOUTH ENGAGEMENT ACADEMY (AZYEA)

      • An intensive training experience designed to build capacity in youth and young adults who have a variety of disabilities and diversities, to prepare them to assume leadership roles, and provide peer-based training, navigation, and support to others.

    • ARIZONA YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM (AZYLF)

      • An innovative, multi-day, regional summer conference, designed to foster personal growth for students and young adults who have disabilities, as they prepare for and progress through transition to adulthood.

    • ARIZONA YOUTH LEADERSHIP INITIATIVES ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

      • Offering ongoing connection and engagement opportunities for all AZYLI Alumni. The AZYLI Alumni Association is governed by an elected Executive Committee (AAAEC), who are responsible for development and implementation of AZYLI Alumni Association goals and activities.

    • EMERGING ME: MY LIFE MATTERS

      • An inclusive, self-discovery, and leadership capacity building program for youth, which assists them in developing and embracing their identity, leading to enhanced self-advocacy, and the practice of self-determination.

    • COLLABORATION AND CONSULTING

      • We actively participate in a variety of community, statewide, and national endeavors through collaboration, presentation, training, mentoring, meeting facilitation, strategic and action planning, and much more.

    • EDUTAINMENT INCORPORATED

      • Diversity awareness enlightenment through theatrical performances and productions, featuring performers who educate and entertain audiences about social and human rights issues.

Services Offered Virtually

  • We can offer any/all services virtually as needed.

COVID Specific Services

  • At this time, all services we provide are, and/or can be offered virtually.
    We do offer in-person and hybrid services/programming.

  • The delivery of our services depends on the comfort level of those we serve, the comfort level of those facilitating the service (staff, independent contractors, etc.), and the current situation in the communities we serve.

  • We do instill capacity limits on some of our programming (i.e. AZYLF is typically limited to 25 youth per each of the five regions), but this is not related to the current pandemic. At this time, we are looking at the current landscape, CDC and Governor recommendations, and other prior to implementing or providing a service and adjusting as needed.

Eligibility

  • AZYLF does require that a youth/young adult has a documented disability since this program is specially to serve this diverse population. They also must be between 14-29 years old, and have finished at least one year of high school

  • Some programming we offer is intended for middle/grade schoolers.

  • Most services we provide we do not have eligibility criteria besides the motivation that they want and need our services.

Required Documents

  • Typically we do not request documents from people seeking our services, however some of our programming for specific pops does require documentation and/or age restrictions. Check website for specific programming eligibility.

  • No cost

Times and Days Program is Offered

  • AZ Youth Leadership Forum (AZYLF) is offered in 5 regions across AZ for one week each in the summer.
    ARIZONA YOUTH ENGAGEMENT ACADEMY (AZYEA) is offered after completion of AZYLF, and elected by peers. This is offered at end of summer for 10-days.

  • All other services/programming are offered based on organization, agency, school or individual needs.
    We offer services during the week, weekends, days and nights. We do our best to work with the needs of those seeking support, services and programming.

Location

  • Our only office location is in Maryvale, however we have staff and independent contractors providing services form their homes or in their communities across all of AZ.

  • We do not currently provide services out of our home offices at this time, only in the community or virtually.

  • We do provide services Statewide.

Languages Offered

  • We have ASL translators.

  • We have, or can put, materials in English, Navajo, and Spanish.

  • We have Spanish speaking staff.

  • Bus Pass,Gas Card,Uber and/or Lyft Gift Card

  • Do you need to be found eligible for the program?

    • Yes

  • What will your organization need and ask from a youth in order to receive transportation assistance?

    • If they are an alumni of one our programs and they need access to transportation in order to fulfill their obligations/duties with DAI, then we will provide these items.
